Bad Bedding

I have been having problems with worms crawling up the sides and even a few have crawled out. I have them in our basement so the temp is about 67 deg constantly. I chop their food up. Now that I saw your video I believe it's because the place I got my worms from told me to start with shredded paper and pulverized cardboard (they sell as bedding of course as part of their "kit"). Thank you for your video! My question is no that I started my bin off incorrectly, what is my best course of action to correct this?? I care about the health of the worms as much my other pets! Though the other pets don't do as much "good" work for me, LOL!

Thank you again,
Dave

Answer from BigTex Worms:
How long have you had your worms in place? If less than a month, I would add rehydrated coconut coir or peat moss to your bin and not feed for a week or so. If your bin is over a month old then just slow down on your feedings (only feed about once every 2 weeks) until they "catch up" on the bedding in your bin.
Or as a last option, you could buy a half starter from me ant this would include active bedding and give your bin a huge jump start.

I hate that other sellers recommend paper/cardboard because it honestly sets people up for failure.

Hope this helps,
Liz
