Fall Garden Update Day 7

by Liz
(bigtexworms.com)

This are photos of my fall garden after 7 days in the ground.

I am pretty proud that most of the seeds have already germinated and are growing nicely.

Behold, the power or worm castings!

I don't remember if I told you in the initial post what my bedding materials were in the raised bed. Just in case I forgot:

I put in 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 worm castings and 1/3 old bedding from the spring planting. Oh and I added some newspaper shreds to reduce the amount of watering I have to do. The paper shreds absorb and hold water and are much cheaper than the watering crystals. In Texas, drought it a threat so any tips to help reduce watering is a must.

You can see my pole beans are coming along nicely and the the lettuce is growing well too. A few carrot sprouts are coming up too.
