Harmless or dangerous nematode/ worm like creature

by Rich
(Dobbs Ferry NewYork )

Recently overtook an old garden in which every scoop of dirt had 4 or more of these half inch thin white/clear worms in them = tons of them. They move like inch worms. New father and having babies eat these vegetables or even near garden concerns me. Are these harmful? Can't seem to find pics anywhere.

I am located in Westchester County of New York.
Will Marigold(Golden Guardian) rid them?
Thank You
Rich

Answer from BigTex Worms

They could be White Worms (Enchytraeids) but they could be something else. My suggestion is to contact your county agricultural extension, they should have a master gardener on hand to help you. If you do not have one, contact your local botanical garden or gardeners club to find a master gardener in your area who can ID the worm for you.
Hope this helps,
Liz
