Heat and worms

by Leora
(Keller, TX)

My daughter has just received her first lot of worms and she is concerned with the temperature as the 'directions' say up to 80 degrees. We all know 100+ is common here. What to do?

Answer from BigTex Worms
Did she buy the worms from me and take my worm composting class in Keller?
The reason I ask is because I cover this topic in class in detail. There are many ways to keep the worms cooler from the type bin, placement of the bin, the bedding used, feed used and moisture levels. If she can come to my worm class (I teach the 4th Saturday of every month in Keller) this would be the best bet, if not I recommend she read "worms eat my garbage or read my ebook or take my online class that covers these topics. OR she can read this page and it will answer most questions. heat tips
