moving worms?

I am moving at the end of the year (over 1000km north) and currently have two worm farms. Is it possible to move the worms in containers or will I have to start all over again when I get to my new home?

Answer from BigTex Worms:

I moved over 30 pounds of worms at my last move. YOu did not say how big your worm farms are but if they are really heavy all you have to do is divide them up into smaller containers that you can carry then put it all back when you get to your new place.

I had to do this with my two large bins. I had over 100 pounds of bedding/castings in each so I used a bunch of 5 gallon buckets to transport the contents.

It is a lot of work, but worth it in my opinion not to have to start over.

But if you do decide to start over you could always sell your worms and use the money you make to start a new worm farm.

I hope this helps,
Liz
