Perennial Garden Photos

Being a , worm farmer all roads in my garden, lead back to the worms. They provide the nutrient rich organic fertilizer (worm poop) that make my veggies and ornamentals a success.

It is my opinion, that if you are going to plant perennials, then why not plant edible ones?

I always love to see others ideas so that I can be inspired. I have posted some photos of my square foot beds, potatoes and onions and pole beans from the 2009 season.

This first photo was taken in February of 09. Please take special notice of the bamboo teepee, with the bean seedings at the very base.

organic garden

When planting, I used worm castings in the holes I dug for the onions/potatoes and seedlings. This next photo was taken 3 weeks later. Look how much the pole beans grew! Thanks to the worm castings and the Texas sun.

Pole Beans

Then throughout the growing season, I make worm compost tea and use as a folier spray and a root drench fertilizer. Its good stuff, it is live and contains good "bugs", so it works to feed the plants and keep bad bugs and fungi away. So awesome.

Last is my photo of the square foot gardening beds just as they were starting to take off in late March 09. I will be posting more photos this growing season.
