red wigglers vs african nightcrawlers

by Jon
(Illinois)

Hi everyone-

I have been composting with worms for about a year now. I have a number of bins currently working for me. Most of them are in 5 gallon buckets and also have some 30 gallon bins. I started with red wigglers and have since purchased some African nightcrawlers as well. In my experience, it seems like the Africans are hungrier than the red wigglers. Is anyone else composting with both kinds? I was thinking about experimenting with another bin and combine both kinds in together to see if that would produce faster results as well. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Jon
