Temperature for raising worms?

by Bob Shoaf
(Alamogordo, NM)

I live in the sunny high desert southwest. Temperatures get to 100 to 105 F from mid-June to 1 Sept. If keep them in my shed the temperature gets hotter. If I keep them outside, I'm not sure if providing shade is enough.

Any thoughts about this?

Thanks

Answer from BigTex Worms:
I have covered this answer several times before. Here is the article that will answer your question:

I even made a video for summer tips:

I live in Texas and have active worm bins outside year round. Our temps get up into the 110+ for weeks at a time. Heat is a challenge but not impossible to keep worms alive.

Hope this helps,
Liz
