what type of growing/area device/bed do you favor

by jerry walker
(wells vt)

do you perfer a single growing area ie bucket, tray or a multi level design.

Answer from BigTex Worms:
I like a single level working worm bin. I have found the multi level systems just dont work for me for several reasons.
1. The worms do not migrate up, so harvesting is no easier in these type bins.
2. The lower levels tend to get really anaerobic (stinky) and really dense, like fudge.
So all in all, I use single level bins. I have horse troughs, 55 gallon drums, old trash cans all as operating worm bins.
My dream is to either build or purchase an OSCR type flow through bin that uses a crank and pully system to harvest castings below the bin. But these are REALLY expensive and I honestly dont know if I will ever by able to justify the expense.
Thanks for asking, Jerry, I hope this answers your question. If not, just reply as a comment and I will elaborate further.
