Worm bin expansion

(Montreal)

Hi readers,
I have a medium size indoor worm bin which needs expansion because it has become too full. Shall I simply transfer the contents by pouring them into the larger bin (mixing the contents), or shall I try to keep the casts at the bottom and the compost material at the top (as it is currently). Shall I harvest the compost? It is winter where I live so I have limited place to keep harvested compost indoors at this time. I have the bin since May 2011 and I am not sure it is ready for harvesting yet. Let me know your thoughts on this subject.
Best regards,
Heidi from Montreal, Quebec

if it were me
by: WELLSWORMS

if it were me i would try to harvest as many worms as possible then add a a small quantity of the old worm bed so they feel more at home. ley the old bedding sit for a week or two so all the eggs have a chance to hatch the use some of their faviorite food to gather as many as you can in one area then putthese in the new bin also.
