Worm ratio to Bin Size

by Amanda
(Indiana)

One more question...

In your video you said half a pound of worms to a ten gallon tote.
I just bought a ten gallon tote and it looks about half the size of the one you used in your video.
Are you sure it was a 10 gallon tote that you were using?

Also I'll be buying the starter packet of worms from you, not buying by the pound. What size bin will I need to have for your starter packet of worms?

Thanks so much. I'm really trying to get this right because I don't want worm escapees again!

Answer from BigTex Worms
. Perhaps the angle of the camera made it look bigger. I am quite positive it was a 10 gallon bin, I only stock those. Are you sure yours isn't a 10 quart tote? And for the 10 gallon size, I recommend the starter bag OR 1/2 pound, and I lean to the starter bag. The starter bag will be good for a 10 gallon bin, and it will be ready to divide within 2-3 months.
